Fourth of July in Chicago

feb6bd9a40692751100a2ef65ffe3fa8_XLThe Fourth of July is one of the best holidays to enjoy in Chicago because there is actually a chance for fantastic weather!

Celebrate your independence all weekend around the Windy City. There are several events for singles and families alike.

 Friday, July 4

The fireworks are set to kick off at Navy Pier at 9:30pm. The rooftop terrace at Navy Pier is a prime spot to watch the show. It’s called Freedom Fest 2014 featuring BBQ, a full bar and a DJ. Purchase tickets in advance. The event is open to all ages.

You can also get a spectacular view of the fireworks from Lake Michigan. Several Chicago sightseeing boat tour companies are offering fireworks dinner cruise packages. DJs will be spinning tunes aboard the boats. Cruises set sail from Navy Pier.

 July 4-6

Windy City RibFest in Uptown at Lawrence and Broadway. Local and national rib extraordinaires create a feast. The fest also features arts and crafts, rock and pop bands, beer and wine for the adults and a play area for the kids.

Saturday, July 5

Sleep Under the Skyscrapers: Outdoor Campout at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Pitch a tent, tell stories around a campfire and eat some s’mores all while keeping an eye out for live animals! You can stay for an evening or camp overnight at the zoo. Registration is required.

 July 5-6

Taste of Lakeview and Rock Around the Block at Lincoln and Belmont. In addition to the tasty bites, artisans will display their wares and street performers will liven up the festivities. Bands including Maggie Speaks and Hairbangers Ball are lined up and ready to rock both days.

Keep the party going after the holiday July 12 and 13 with Summer on Southport at Southport and Waveland. And don’t forget to exercise your freedom to sell your home or condo or buy a new one. Contact Jim Miller and JM Partners at 773.617.6638 or jmiller@jamesonsir.com.
